Prostatitis was the inflammation (swelling) of the prostate gland. This inflammation may be due to an infection as well as other several causes. The prostate was a small gland which was found in men which lies in between the penis & the bladder. It will produce a thick white fluid that was mixed along with the sperm to create semen.

Distinct from other prostate conditions like prostate cancer or enlargement, which generally affect older men, prostatitis may develop in the men of all age groups.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS:

Symptoms of prostatitis may include:

pain in the genitals, pelvis, lower back & buttocks
pain while passing the urine
needs to pee frequently
difficulty to urinating, such as problems while starting or “stop-start” peeing
pain while ejaculating, which can contribute loss of libido (sex drive) or to erectile dysfunction.

Sometimes you may also experience tiredness, high temperature (fever) of 38C (100.4F) or above, chills, aching joints & muscles. These symptoms generally develop steadily & come & go over after several months, but they may sometimes start suddenly.

CAUSES:

It was not clear that which are the causes in the most cases of the prostatitis. Usually, the nerves & muscles in the pelvis may cause you to feel the pain because of:

inflammation
prostate infection
some other problem

Some cases were caused due to the infections. Bacteria will get into the prostate when infected urine flows backwards from the urethra.

DIAGNOSIS:

Patients usually undergo a comprehensive exam, that will includes a digital rectal exam. The doctor will be able to assess whether the prostate gland was enlarged or tender. Then, if the doctor was still not sure what you having, more tests will be done, like a prostate fluid analysis for any signs of the infection, biopsy, transrectal ultrasound or voiding studies. Voiding studies may include the collection & examination of the urine to establish which part of the urinary system was been infected.
