FRENULOPLASTY

An abnormally sensitive or short frenulum of penis will make some kinds of sexual activity uncomfortable and it may be even painful. This is a problem of circumcision or a it may be occurs naturally. If at all it was occurring naturally, a short frenulum may control normal retraction of the foreskin in erection (a condition known as frenulum breve). The main goal of the treatment is to allow common retraction of the foreskin. Circumcision can relieve this situation but is not indication of solely to treat frenulum breve. Yet, circumcision may also results to an abnormally sensitive frenulum.

Frenuloplasty

PROCEDURE:

  • This is a procedure which was performed under local anaesthesia and it is be carried out in the outpatients procedure.

  • A incision was made in the shape of a V which is then slowly release and relax and sewn up in the shape of a Y generally frenulum length may increase around by 1 to 1.5cm.

  • Sometimes an alteration of the plasty using “Z-plasties” may be more suitable. Simple division of the frenulum is much lesser satisfaction for most of the men, so it is not at all recommended. Small dissolving stitches were placed and these may usually fall out after a week to 10 days. If they take a little longer time no need to worry.

  • From the point of view of the pain relief, most of the men won’t require anything apart from the anaesthetic even though it is advisable to take something along with a paracetamol or Nurofen prior before going to bed at night for the 1 or 2 days.

  • It is most significant to apply a moisturising cream and to wash and clean the foreskin 2 times daily since if the frenular area is not extended then it will scar down again. Generally simply wash with warm water is recommend, patting the penis dry and then applying a little amount of E45 cream on the area before replacing the foreskin.

  • There will be a slight bleeding for 12 – 48 hours after the operation is done. It will take maximum 6 weeks for the operation to heal fully but mostly men are capable to resume normal sex life after 3 weeks after the operation.
